Former FASB Chairman Dennis R. Beresford Elected to Kimberly-Clark's Board of Directors DALLAS, November 12, 2002 – Kimberly-Clark Corporation (NYSE: KMB) today announced that Dennis (Denny) R. Beresford, former chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) from 1987 to 1997, has been elected to its board of directors.

Mr. Beresford, 63, is the Ernst & Young Executive Professor of Accounting at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, a position he assumed after serving two terms as FASB chairman. Prior to joining the FASB, he was the National Director of Accounting Standards and a partner at Ernst & Young. Mr. Beresford is a Certified Public Accountant, holds a Certificate in Management Accounting and is certified by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants in Financial Management.

“Denny brings more than 40 years of experience in accounting, finance and business management to Kimberly-Clark,” said Wayne R. Sanders, chairman of the board of directors at Kimberly-Clark. “The perspective he brings as a former FASB chairman and his concern for the public interest in matters of financial accounting and reporting complement K-C’s already strong corporate governance policies and commitment to fairness and transparency for all shareholders.”

Born in Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. Beresford received a bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting from the University of Southern California. After joining Ernst & Young in 1961, Mr. Beresford held several management positions of increasing responsibility and was promoted to partner in 1972. Throughout his career, he has served on boards and committees of numerous financial and accounting organizations and is currently a member of the board of directors and the financial reporting committee of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). In addition, Mr. Beresford was appointed to the board of directors of WorldCom, Inc. on July 21, 2002. He and his wife, Marian, reside in Athens, Georgia.
